Pricing and minutes
The short version
- Voice: 7¢ per minute, prepaid.
- Typing: free, always.
- New accounts: 10 free voice minutes to try it.
No subscription and no monthly fee. You pay for the voice minutes you use.
Your balance
Open the menu → Account & minutes to see Voice remaining. Voice time is counted per second from when a voice conversation connects until it ends. Typed messages never count.
A paused conversation is still connected, so it still counts. To stop using minutes, end the conversation (tap End voice or swipe left). A paused conversation ends on its own after 10 minutes.
Top up
On the Account screen, pick a pack:

Payment happens in your browser through Stripe. When you've paid, return to Herald and your minutes appear, usually within a few seconds. Tap Refresh balance if they don't.
When you run out
Voice pauses, and Herald offers Top up minutes or Keep typing — free. Your agent, conversations and history are not affected.
What Herald doesn't charge for
Herald doesn't charge for the work your agent does. Your agent runs on your own machine with your own model provider, which bills you as it does today.
