Long tasks and multitasking
Your agent can be busy for minutes at a time. Herald keeps you informed without reading out every step, and you can keep talking the whole time.
Progress you can actually listen to
While a task runs you hear a short update now and then ("checked the logs, looking at the database now"), not a stream of every file opened. When it finishes you get a short spoken summary. The full output appears on screen under Latest, where you can read or copy it.
What you can say while it works
| You say | What happens |
|---|---|
| An unrelated question ("what time is it in Tokyo?") | Answered right away. The task keeps running. |
| A correction or extra detail ("also check the uptime") | Added to the task that's already running. |
| "Forget that, do X instead" | The old task stops and the new one starts. |
| "When that's done, email me the result" | Queued to start once the current task finishes. |
| "How's it going?" | A quick status of where the task is. |
| "Stop" | The task stops. |
You don't need special phrases. Talk the way you would to a colleague.
Leaving the app
Your agent keeps working if you leave Herald or lock your phone. When the task finishes, Herald tells you, so you don't need to keep the app open.
If you've been silent for a while, Herald goes on hold to save battery. A running task is never cut off because you went quiet.
Approvals
Some agents ask before doing something important. When yours does, Herald asks you out loud and shows Approve and Deny on screen.
