Troubleshooting
Every error in Herald has a Copy button. If you contact support, paste the copied details; it saves a lot of back and forth.
Pairing
The pairing command says "Hermes not found."
It looks on your PATH, in ~/.local/bin, in the Hermes install folder and in
/usr/local/bin. If Hermes lives somewhere else, add that folder to your
PATH and run it again.
"Hermes X is too old."
Run hermes update. Herald needs Hermes 0.20.0 or newer.
An agent shows up as hermes-agent instead of its name.
Herald reads your agent's name from its SOUL.md. Add a line such as
You are Tai, … and pair again.
I scanned the code but the agent won't connect.
- If the pairing command created a new key or changed settings, restart Hermes
with
systemctl --user restart hermes-gateway. Run this in a normal terminal, not from inside a Hermes chat. - If the pairing command said "No relay configured", the agent only works while your phone is on the same Wi-Fi as the machine. See Connect from anywhere.
Talking
Herald doesn't hear me. Check that Herald has microphone permission in your phone's settings. If you're using Bluetooth earbuds, tap the audio button on the Talk screen and make sure they're selected.
I can't hear Herald. Check the audio button on the Talk screen; output may be going to a different device. Also check you aren't paused (swipe right to resume).
My agent answers general questions but can't do anything on my machine.
Your phone is connected but your agent isn't reachable. Check that Hermes is
running, and if you set up the relay, run herald-tunnel status on the machine.
Herald went on hold. After a few minutes of silence Herald goes on hold to save battery. Tap the orb to carry on. Running tasks are not affected.
Account
I paid but my minutes didn't arrive. Go back to Herald and tap Refresh balance on the Account screen. If they're still missing after a minute, contact us with the time of payment.
I'm out of minutes. Top up, or keep typing; typing is free.
