What is Herald?
Herald is a voice app for your Hermes agent. Open it on your phone, start talking, and your agent answers out loud. It's the same agent you already use: same memory, same skills, same machine.
You don't need to change how your agent works. Herald connects to the Hermes you already run, on your laptop, a home server or a cloud box, and gives it a voice.
What you can do
- Have a real conversation. Talk naturally and interrupt whenever you like. Herald listens while it speaks.
- Hand off real work. Ask your agent to check a server, research something or fix a bug. It does the work on your machine and tells you how it went.
- Keep talking while it works. Ask something else mid-task and you get an answer right away. The task keeps running.
- Change your mind mid-task. Add a detail ("also check the uptime") and it's folded into the work already under way. Say "forget that, do this instead" and the old task stops.
- Hear progress without the noise. Long tasks get short spoken updates and a clear summary at the end, with the full output on screen.
- Switch between agents. Pair every Hermes profile you own and pick who you're talking to.
- Type when you can't talk. Typing to your agent is always free, and you can attach photos.
How you get set up
- Install the app on Android or iPhone and sign in with Google.
- Pair your agent by running one command on the machine where Hermes runs, then scanning the QR code it shows.
- Start talking.
Most people are talking to their agent within five minutes.
What Herald needs
- A running Hermes agent, version 0.20.0 or newer.
- An Android phone or an iPhone, and an early-access invitation (request one).
- A Google account to sign in.
See Pricing for what voice costs. Typing is free.
