Privacy and security

Your agent stays on your machine

Your agent, its files, memory and tools stay on your own machine. Herald doesn't copy your files or your agent's memory.

Your agent's keys

Pairing gives Herald a key that can run commands on your agent's machine, so treat it like a password:

  • The QR code from the pairing command contains that key. Show it only to your own phone's camera, never on a shared screen or in a screenshot.
  • Keys are stored in your phone's secure storage.
  • Remove an agent from Herald and its key is deleted from your phone.
  • To revoke a key entirely, change it in your Hermes configuration and pair again.

Connections are encrypted

When you connect from anywhere, traffic between Herald and your agent goes over HTTPS. Same-Wi-Fi pairing uses your machine's local address, so use it only on a network you trust. The pairing command warns you whenever keys would travel unencrypted.

What we keep

  • Your Google account email, to identify you.
  • Your voice minute balance and payment history. Card details are held by Stripe, never by us.
  • A link between your account and your agent's current conversation, so you can pick up where you left off.

Your conversations are stored by your agent, not by us. The History screen reads them straight from your agent. The one exception: when you rate a conversation with Something went wrong here or This session went well, that conversation's transcript is sent to us with your report.
